Irene's Sweet 16 Party!!

Yay! The day is finally here where I get to share with you my cousin Irene's Sweet 16 Party! Sorry for the delay, vacation kicked my butt LOL.

I have to say, it was very well planned out (I had final approval of the timeline so you know it's gonna be good LOL!!). But we made sure it flowed like a good fun ..wedding reception HAHAHAHAHA!

The kiddies (especially Irene's sister, Cielo), really worked hard to plan out the song numbers and the games, for the most part keeping the program a surprise to Irene on the actual day! I think it was very good practice for wedding planning and I'm VERY proud of Cielo and those who helped who made it all happen! That was maid of honor status right there!!! Cielo will have no problem helping Irene plan her wedding in... 30 years LOL!!!

You could tell all the teeny boppers had a lot of fun!!! NTME set up a big photobooth with props and people got really creative as well! REALLY creative LOL! You can check those photos out on our FB page HERE.

I am very proud of Irene.. she's like class president, plays the clarinet, gets straight A's, does soccer, etc etc. She's just awesome. It's crazy that she is going to my high school alma mater too. She's doing a lot of things I did in high school, but.. she does it BETTER! HAHAHAHAH! I see how many good friends she has and how everyone only has good things to say about her, and I know that if ever she's in trouble, she has a great net of friends to catch her. I couldn't' have asked for better little cousins than her and her siblings.

I can't wait for Cielo and Eduardo's Sweet 16 Party in two years (they are twins, and I heard it's gonna be a Sweet and Sour Party or something HAHAHAHAHA!!!). I am so very proud of them as well!

It was an awesome day. Like a mini wedding, we just needed a groom. But like I said, only 30 more years Irene, just 30 years ;)

Philadelphia SmugMug: Relaunch 1/11/12!!

Last night, the Philadelphia SmugMug Group was able to have a Relaunch Get-Together with guest speakers that came out from SmugMug! It was so awesome and we felt so special that Rocky and Steve from SmugMug were able to come out and show us the great things that SmugMug can do for our photography!!

The gathering was held at Calumet Photographic and a big thanks goes out to Gregg for once again hosting our group! The turnout was great and I feel it served as a great opportunity to network and share our knowledge with one another!

Best of 2011: Weddings!!!

So here's my best of 2011 for Weddings! Yay!

It's just a humbling feeling because I didn't know what to expect at the beginning of 2011. I only had 2 weddings in 2010, which was a great start in my mind, but I had no clue how many awesome brides and grooms I was going to meet in 2011. I'm thankful that I had the opportunity to take several workshops and meet some of my photography idols, and I feel that really helped me improve my wedding work as 2011 progressed.

I am excited for what 2012 will bring. Thanks for all of your support!

How I Do: Ring Shots while Testing Nikon's 105mm f/2.8 Micro Lens!

Over the weekend I rented a Nikon 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor Lens from LensRentals.com. Their review about it explicitly warns that once you try it you will want to keep it. It was so hard for me to ship it back yesterday because I did want to keep it. I currently use the 60mm f/2.8 from Nikon for my macro shots and while that is great, the compression on the 105mm just is so awesome. I definitely can see the benefit of having 45 extra mm hehehe! You are also less likely to be in the way of your own light and such. I feel like it's a lot easier to get a super big shot of a ring if you'd like it to fill the frame as well... or at least you don't have to do as much cropping in post compared to the 60mm. :)

It's currently around $900 bucks and if it weren't for the fact that I'm saving up for the D4, I'd totally snatch it up. But for now, at least I can rent it when I do weddings :) I always suggest renting a lens first before buying it so you can really see if you have a need for it!

Here's some shots of my own wedding ring taken with the 105mm - if you get a chance, rent it and try it out too!!

All of these were taken using items in my kitchen LOL.

Window light was coming in directly to the left of the kitchen table.

Here's what I had at my disposal:
- banana tree

- big fake diamond paperweight

- water bottles

- laptop cooler (the black thingy)

Note: I started out with auto focus, but quickly switched to manual. Auto is good in some respects, for the 105mm it's very fast, but sometimes it couldn't pick up what I wanted to be in focus since my ring is a bit ... elaborate and sometimes I wanted to the bigger diamond in focus but other times I wanted the side diamonds to be focused.

So.. when I started, I felt the shots were decent but.. nothing was like wow to me:

The bokeh in this first one is the water bottles, although it almost looks like.. the background could be a window with storefronts showing through or something.. at least in my mind lol.

ISO 1600, f/9, 1/60 sec

Then I tried getting some leading line action in...

ISO 1600, f/9, 1/125 sec

Eh, it's okay, it's a start hehe!

I took a minute to rethink things and do some rearranging.

This one is the banana tree hook with bokeh from its own wooden stand and I think there's a little brown candle box behind the stand as well.

ISO 800, f/5.6, 1/160 sec

This is my ring on my laptop's fan cooler.. with the big fake diamond paperweight serving as a reflective surface.

ISO 1600, f/7.1, 1/100 sec

This is the banana tree's hook with the big fake diamond paperweight serving as bokeh. I had to move the diamond around to make sure it caught the window light correctly to produce the different colors.

ISO 1600, f/7.1, 1/125 sec

As you can see, although the kitchen had a decent amount of light flowing in, the backgrounds seem to be rather black in the latter images. It has to do with light falloff. I'm not going to botch an explanation but basically, I placed my background items further back from the light source, and as a result, the light captured in the background by the camera tapers off dramatically. Also I was shooting at f/7.1 or higher for most of the pics.

So I'm happy with getting from where I started to where I ended up. I think that you can definitely find ways to turn something ordinary into something extraordinary. Not that I'm winning awards or anything but I am happy with what I was able to do with things I found in my kitchen hehehe!

I love the 105mm 2.8 for ring shots. I definitely see myself renting this for my upcoming weddings.

Happy new year everyone!

So.. this is a bit late, but better late than never. Just got back from a Cali vacation and am now getting back into the swing of things!

2011 was my second year in business and boy was it more than I could have expected! I was able to reach my goals and even exceed some, plus I had a chance to take workshops from some of the bosses in the industry, and got to meet tons of awesome people to capture their weddings or memories for their family!

I am just going to post some of my personal portrait faves from 2011, and in another post I'll do my wedding faves of 2011 :)

Thank you to EVERYONE for your constant support, I couldn't do what I love doing with you all!

This is a summary video of our first Northeast Shootout, put together by my hubby. He's starting to dabble in video, for now, we'll say it's for fun. He literally got his video equipment the day before this event, so, please pardon him while he is still learning :)

But great job to my hubby, I see great things for you.. and we'll see what it means for our business.. in the long run, not next month okay? ;)

But anyway, it was a lot of fun - enjoy the video!

The Steeds - Virginia Family Session!

Hello everyone! So excited to share with you my first far-away family session (I think?) I was blessed with the opportunity to travel to Virginia a few Mondays ago and spend time with the Steed family! What a wonderful time it was, as we took some images in their house and then traveled to historic town of Occoquan, VA, which was such a cute little town! It started drizzling but that didn't stop us from getting all our images in!!

I felt so honored to be asked to take pictures of a fellow photographer and his family, although at the same time, I was admittedly a bit nervous! But Kevin, you have such an awesome, fun, beautiful family and it was just like hanging out with some old friends :)

It was crazy because little Nathaniel actually crawled on his knees for the FIRST TIME at this session! Up until that point, he had been doing sort of an army/stomach crawl, but he got up on his knees and crawled for several feet! It was so awesome to be able to capture this moment!

Julian is such a precocious 3 year old! I was amazed just how much he already knows.. I thought I was talking to a 6 year old for real!

Where the NTME comes from..

Usually when I hand people my business card and it says NTME on it, they don't read it as such. I always find it amusing because I totally understand why most people won't get it on the first try. I didn't mean to be so difficult when it came to choosing my business's name, it just happened this way. But let me explain the method behind the madness, and why I ultimately ended up choosing a name that usually befuddles most people when they first try to pronounce it :)

When I thought about starting my business, I was coming up with some really not-cool names. For instance:

"The Happy Photographer" (huh??)
"Sunshine Photography" (bleh!)

Come on Tasha, HAHAHAHAH! Enough said.

So I was like, what if I use my name?

"Natasha Esguerra Photography"

Looks great, most people do it this way, but then I'll have another problem - pronunciation LOL. In the time I've been married to my wonderful husband, I've heard a total of 2 non-filipino people pronounce it correctly, and I'd like to take a stab and say it's because both of them were spanish-speaking hehehehehe! It's filipino name, of spanish descent... or something like that. Most people will not get it, and that's totally fine :)

So I decided to try some initials.

E Photography.
Nope.

N.E. Photography
Standing for Natasha Esguerra, but N.E. sounds like "any", and I don't want anyone to think I'm just "any" photographer hahaha!

What if I add another initial?

N.M.E. Photography
Standing for Natasha Marshall Esguerra, but now I have another problem. N-M-E sounds like "enemy" LOL

Okay let's add the T...

NTME Photography
(Stands for Natasha Theresa Marshall Esguerra... Hmm.... This is different... and I will appear first in google searches if someone searches my initials lol...)

Edit: I just googled "NTME" and I actually come in second to something called "Nameless Tile Map Editor", whatever that is LOL!!

The issue though with NTME is I now get the following when I hand someone a business card:

Oh cool, "N-Time" Photography?
Oh cool, "Not-Me" Photography?
Oh cool, "N-Timmy" Photography?

But once I clarify that it's my initials, all is gravy. I chuckle to myself every time, because I know I brought this upon myself.

So that's where NTME comes from - my name abbreviated. I was thinking that after being in business for a year, I'd consider changing it to "Photography by Natasha Theresa" (which I am kicking myself for not thinking of during the initial name-choosing process), but I think it's a little late, and people told me I should just keep it.

So now I embrace it.

And so there you have it - I am NTME. And the images below are what NTME is all about :)

Philly SmugMug Meetup - Mike Allebach, Photographer of the Tatooed Bride + Jaleel King for Help Portrait!

Melissa + Reagan: Rock the Dress - Northeast Shootout #1

AHHH it's here! The fruits of my first collaboration shoot! Behold!!

So, on Nov. 19, 2011, I put together my first collabo shoot thingy! Thank you to everyone who helped make it possible! It took place in Baltimore, MD at the Hotel Monaco. We shot inside for the first half of the day, then made our way down to the Baltimore Inner Harbor to end the day.

It was a lot of fun (at least I hope it was hahahaha!), we had a great bride and groom for our Rock the Dress session, and overall it was definitely a great team to work with!

If you've been following my little "Photography Tip of the Day" posts on my facebook fanpage, this one has to do with shooting from a lower angle to add more interest to an image. I believe I was literally laying on my stomach for this image, so that you could get an interesting perspective of the grass and leaves on the ground and then be led up to the beautiful family. If you are okay with getting down and dirty here and there to get the shot, then, photography is for you HAHAHAHAHA! Stretching helps too HAHAHAHA :)

I will tell you more about the shoot that I put together in the full blog, but basically, I put together a collaboration between photographers, a makeup artist, florist, and a married couple to shoot a Rock the Dress session around Baltimore Inner Harbor. I am dubbing it the Northeast Shootout!

Domingo Family!

I decided to go for a more vintage feel with mommy and baby.

Teaser: Irene Turns 16!

So my beautiful cousin Irene is turning 16 in a couple of weeks. In preparation for her Sweet 16 Party, we went out and took some images today.. basically driving around our quaint hometown until I saw somewhere that I wanted to create some images :)

Here's a teaser from the session. I had a chance to dabble in some night photography and now I'm super hype to do some more!

This is one flash, no modifier, from camera left. ISO 250, 125mm, f/3.5 @ 1/100 sec. Flash at 1/32 power I think. My new modifier is coming in the mail tomorrow so soon I will be softening my off camera flash a bit more :)

Wedding: Edith + Johnny

Here are the images from my last wedding of the year - Edith + Johnny!

I first shared the reunion of Edith and Johnny back in August, and after a couple of months of patiently waiting, the day finally came for them to become one before the sight of God.

I'm excited to show these because it's the first time we've gotten to go out and about after a reception! We basically drove around Philly for a bit and stopped whenever we saw something cool :) Edith and Johnny were up for anything and I was lovin' it!!

Hope you all like the images, I'm kind of in wedding withdrawal now until next year, but it's okay! Congrats again to Edith and Johnny on your marriage and your beautiful wedding - some things are worth the wait!

Gorgeous!

Johnny was so excited to see his bride during the First Look, that he literally RAN up to her. He started in the grass though so that his shoes wouldn't be so noisy lol. I didn't realize it was him at first .. my first thought was, who's this person running in a tux HAHAHAHAHA! First looks are AWESOME!! As a result, the rest of our day was pretty relaxed, we just took a few entourage images between ceremony and reception :)

Even though Johnny is Puerto Rican, he did karaoke of a Filipino song for Edith. I'm half filipino myself but I could NOT for the life of me pronounce anything near as well as Johnny did!

Mini T-Shirt Shoot in 10 Minutes with Mini-Tutorial

So, I had a chance to shoot a few t-shirts for Dan, a friend from high school who now has his own t-shirt printing business!

It's just a little project as he decides what types of product shots he wants for his website, and also, it's something new and different for me, as you know I like to do here and there.

Now for the mini-tutorial:

To take these shots, I literally had 10 minutes in between lunch and my first choir practice of the day hehe. It was a Sunday and my Sundays are filled with church services and choir practices :) Not to mention, it was a bit cold outside and you can't have people walking around in just t-shirts for too long during this time of the year lol. But my friends aka my male models were great sports so they toughed it out hehe!

I used one off-camera flash with no modifier, to camera right. For the brick shots, I could've went natural light, but I don't think it would've popped as much.

Below please see the natural light shot.

92mm, 1/160 sec, f/4.5

It was.. alright.. or 'aight' hehehehe. I mean, I could've went with it but.. I wanted the brick to be a bit darker. So, I adjusted my shutter speed and aperture to make the background darker, how I wanted it to look in the pic (with the intention of adding flash back in to light my subject properly again).

100mm, 1/250 sec, f/5.6

Once I added my flash, which I set manually and adjusted until my subject was properly lit, this was the result. There's really no set formula for what setting to put your flash on. It's trial and error unless you use a light meter, which, I do not (I commend those who do, I just haven't been able to get around to it lol). But for me, if the flash is too bright, you can either fix it on the flash, or you can have your flash stand (or person holding your flash) move back a little.

Some light still does spill onto the background b/c I didn't have too much space, and my subject is about 6 feet away from the wall, but it is still a bit darker than with the natural light, and also, my subject has some nice shadows to add more depth to the photo and the t-shirt.

So yeah, here's my mini product shoot in 10 minutes. Longer ones to come :) I figured there are a few things I need to adjust and pay more attention to, which I will do so next time! But it was a fun experience, I love trying new things!

Philly SmugMug Meetup - Post Processing Presentation!

Last Wednesday, Philly SmugMug was happy to have John Bodensiek of PhotoFusionUSA as a guest speaker. He spoke to our group about post processing in Lightroom, but started all the way from the beginning with getting it right IN-CAMERA, so that you don't have too much to do afterward. It wasn't an actual workshop because there's so much to learn, but in 2 hours, we received tons of tips and tricks!

John was an excellent speaker and teacher, and I'm sure everyone took home a thing or two that they can incorporate into their workflow. Plus he holds workshops all over the US to help photographers in the use of Adobe products and workflow, as well as other aspects of photography!

I help co-lead John's group here in Philly, as well as the Philly SmugMug. Please feel free to join these groups!! SmugMug is more for education and socialization, and PhotoFusion has workshops you can sign up for, as well as local shoots in the city at least once a month, which started this month :)

Last Saturday, I had the honor of covering a Fitness-A-Thon at Riverwinds Community Center in West Deptford, NJ to benefit breast cancer research! It was a fun day filled with action-packed classes, and has inspired me to start taking fitness classes as Riverwinds as well :)

Yesterday evening we had a Mini Studio Lighting Workshop for our Philly SmugMug.

Recently, my photog friend, Hillary, and I accepted the position as co-leaders of the Philly Smug, and this was our first official meetup as co-leaders! I am very excited to be taking on this role, especially with Hillary as I can't think of anyone else who I rather work with! We've been working together already for several of the past meetups, so now it was just a matter of making it official hehe!

Dave Kappler was our first guest speaker, and he was very knowledgeable (and entertaining) when it comes to studio lighting! Learned a lot from him speaking and look forward to finding more guest speakers to share their knowledge with us! Check out his site - especially his headshots and fashion images!!

INC Giving - Park Clean Up

Last Saturday, my church, the Church of Christ (Iglesia Ni Cristo), as part of our monthly INC Giving project, was able to help clean a few roads and a park in Historic Jenkintown, PA. It was a lot of fun, a great turnout for our brethren, and the Tookany Tacony Frankford Watershed Partnership that we were helping out said that we were the best group they've ever had, all the praise and glory to God!! I guess we really cleaned up well hehehehe! I look forward to our upcoming October INC Giving project!

Love Me Some Albums - Latest Sample + More Info Album Info!

So a few weeks ago I mentioned that I ordered a new sample album and that I'd show it to you when I get it. It's been a bit hectic but today I had some time to take a few images of it :)

This album contains images from Sheila + Mike's wedding last June. This is NTME's Deluxe Album, a 12x12 flushmount leather album, the largest that I currently offer! Our other sizes are Signature (10x10), and Classic (8x8).

First of all, our deluxe albums come standard with a customized durable canvas box that has one of your images from your wedding printed onto it :) It is also available as an add-on to our smaller albums.

There are many many options you can choose for decorating the outside of your album. In this particular album, I have a 5x7 image mounted on the front cover, with a two-leather design. I have swatches you can use to choose your album fabrics, as well as an iPad app to aid in the design process and show you what the final product would look like - yay for technology!!

This particular album is pretty big. Like I mentioned earlier, it's a 12x12 album, and it has 32 pages (64 sides) which contain about 100 images. Typically our albums start at 20 pages (40 sides) and you can add on pages/images as needed. When designing an album, I prefer to place only 1 or 2 images on each side so each image gets enough face time and they won't be too small.

Of course, some sides may have more images, such as if there are details, etc. And it's a lot easier to place more images per page in this larger album since, the pages ARE larger anyway. In our smaller albums we are more strict about sticking to 1 or 2 images max per page or else you may need your magnifying glass hehe!

Once the album is approved by you and goes to the printer, please allow up to 6 weeks for delivery. The album is handcrafted page by page to provide utmost care and quality. It is definitely worth the wait!!

Today I was able to meet again with Eliana (Iya) and her parents, Wilson & Tina, to have a family mini session in National Park, NJ.

I will be presenting them with their images in person next Saturday, but in the meantime, I wanted to post a teaser. It's always a battle with me as to what to choose as a teaser. It's almost like I don't want to give TOO much away, but I want to give enough away to make you anxious for what is to come LOL. Ay yay yay. Sometimes I overthink these things hehehe. I just get so excited, because I really really can't wait to show the world more images of this beautiful family!

At any rate, I chose two teasers from the mini session. Don't worry, there are ones with the parents' heads included, but for now, it's all about Iya ;)

Reunited & It Feels So Good! | Edith + Johnny, Philadelphia Airport

On Tuesday I had the opportunity to capture the reunion of Johnny and Edith. They are brethren in my church, the Church of Christ, and I offered to tag along for this reunion since I knew it was a very important moment in their lives. You see, Johnny and Edith have been a couple for around 3 years now. The thing is - Edith was living in the Philippines, and Johnny lives in Pennsylvania. Talk about long distance!!! In fact, the last time they saw each other was over a year ago - June 2010!!

But with God's grace, Edith has been allowed to come to the US, she has already passed her board exams to be an RN in PA, and in October, she and Johnny shall be married!! Everything is falling into place with God's help :)

Edith's flight was actually in the air during the earthquake that hit us on Tuesday! Luckily though, there was no delay in her landing. Edith told me afterwards that she had been praying very hard that nothing would stop them from reuniting, and with God's help, not even an earthquake was able to keep them apart!!

It was a wonderful moment. Actually, it was several moments, which were all about rediscovering each other. After their initial reunion, the couple would sometimes just look at each other in pure amazement, perhaps even disbelief! The puzzle pieces had come together. Everything was just right.

Thanks Edith and Johnny for allowing me to capture this beautiful moment in your lives. I am very happy for the two of you!!!

Johnny mentioned to me that he had been praying for his 'blessing', his true love for over 20 years! Imagine, praying for the love of your life for that long, but it's really so true that God makes everything happen in HIS time and when it DOES happen, it's so worth the wait! In fact, the wait makes the blessing even sweeter.

Mountains, Smores, & Waterfalls!! Our Anniversary + Cousin Road Trip!

So as you know, August 9th is Fred and my wedding anniversary - yay! This year we decided to take a little road trip to camp out in the Poconos and visit Canada to see Niagara Falls! But we also wanted to spend time with my little cousins, Irene, Eduardo, and Cielo, so we brought them along as well. You might be saying - what!? It's your anniversary and you're bringing KIDS? And they aren't even YOUR kids!?

I gotta tell you something about my little cousins. They are just plain awesome. Whenever we all hang out, it's an adventure, and Fred and I wanted them to have a chance to see a world wonder, ride some white water, and to try smores for the first time. It was our moment in time to experience it all TOGETHER.

And I wouldn't have had it any other way.

Saturday started off with Camelbeach Waterpark in the Poconos. It's pretty big and had some cool rides. I however only could take 9 pictures because we forgot a memory card for our water proof camera HAHAHAHAHA!

Sunday after church, we headed back to the Poconos in the evening and camped out in a cabin. I was all for camping, but I insisted on a cabin and not a tent hahaha. Glad that I did because it ended up raining each night hahaha!

The kiddies had smores for the first time. They are now addicted. Here's a video about us trying to start a fire on the first night... it took us 2 hours because the wood was damp and we didn't have a fire-starting thingy... But Cielo saved the day with her sorceress chant!

Fred has what he considers the best method for making the perfect smore. He says that you should not let the smore touch the flame directly, but just have it linger nearby it. It should make the outside of the marshmellow a crispy golden brown, not burnt.

We used Hershey's 'minis' for the smores.. rather than the chocolate pieces that you snap off. It worked really well... very easy to deal with and you can add peanut butter cup minis if you want!

On Monday, we went white water rafting on the Lehigh River. We stuck with the class 1 and class 2 rapids, which I think were great for the kids' first time.

Didn't buy the photo they took... probably b/c of my face HAHAHAH!

Talking Shop: Philly SmugMug Meeting - Using Your Camera 101

Okay look guys, I'll tell you straight up.

I'm not gonna lie - I like blogging on here a LOT more now that I've redesigned it HAHAHAHAH! 4 days of blogging in a row - unheard of! But I will definitely try to blog more consistently from here on in!

Anyway, so yesterday, the Philly SmugMug Meetup Group held a meeting in Calumet of Philadelphia, a photography store which I shop at regularly! Thank you to Calumet for opening your classroom to us, to my photo buddy Hillary for dealing with all the logistics of coordinating with Calumet, and for SmugMug for allowing us to have this meeting :)

Fred and I gave a brief and hopefully educational introduction on the essential ingredients for obtaining a proper exposure. It was my first time to ever do a presentation like this in front of... PEOPLE... I'm used to informally helping out and such, but everyone was nice and tolerant of me and my corny jokes, so I think it went pretty swell! After the overview, we broke down into smaller groups to tackle questions and just talk about our love for photography!

The next few were our 'live' (lol) demonstration on how sometimes our in-camera meter will not give us an accurate exposure.

The camera meter has been fooled! My hubby is underexposed a little bit!! Oh no!!

When we are reading our camera meter, zeroing it out isn't always going to work if a scene is brighter than 18% grey. "Go back where we came from = go back towards the brightness (+) and expose longer!" The whites are more white instead of grey! Yay! Excuse the off WB, just no time for that right now LOL!

Now let's take a darker scene..

Oh no! The camera meter told me this exposure would work, but I am overexposed!! The blacks are grey b/c that's what the camera wanted to do = turn me & my surroundings into 18% grey by overexposing!

Take THAT, inaccurate camera meter! We'll show you who's boss, by dialing back towards the (-) side as we look at our camera meter, exposing a little shorter (faster shutter speed) in order to make my black shirt black again!

WHAT?! It's Been 3 Years!? Happy Anniversary :)

So, yesterday marked Fred and my 3rd wedding anniversary!!! YAY!!!

Thanks to everyone who greeted us or 'liked' my status on facebook :) We felt so loved - 56 likes is like a record for me HAHAHAHAH!!! Maybe I just need more friends LOL!

Thanks be to God for blessing our marriage and allowing us to reach another year of happiness together!! I truly believe in soulmates.. for I have been blessed with mine, and I cannot even begin to fathom all the miraculous ways in which God works. For it was HIM who brought us together, even though we grew up on different sides of the country... everything just fell into place. We started going out on August 9, 2007, and exactly one year later, August 9, 2008, we were married. I guess you just... KNOW sometimes.. yeah, you just do.

So happy 4 year anniversary of our first date, and happy 3 year anniversary of when we said, "I do"!! Fred is truly a blessing in my life. He is so patient, so loving, so understanding, so many more wonderful things.. I don't know how I got so lucky. All I know is - thank you Fred for loving me!

In celebration of our anniversary, I am sharing with you some of my favorite wedding images, courtesy of Es-Sense Photography!

Gotta Love Quality!! Albums + New Packaging!!

Hi everyone!

So.. NTME has been changing its look, and in keeping with that, we've got new packaging! YEAH BUDDY!! It's white portrait folders and white boxes with NTME imprinted with purple foil, and ribbons!!!

Also, just wanted to show you a recent flushmount album I made for a client, it was a 5x7 leather Finao album, with metallic images mounted right onto the pages. If you were to hold this book in your hands, you would KNOW this screams high quality and is going to last a lifetime! Here are some images of what it looks like! I can't wait because very soon, I will have my latest wedding album sample which I will also share with you :)

Here's the standard packaging that Finao One albums come with - all green and/or recycled! The blueish ribbon is from mulberries I believe, and the wrapping is from pineapple leaves!

The feel of this album is just.. so... hearty? HAHAHA!! It means business!!

Here's my thumb in comparison to the thickness of a single page. The pages are THICK!!! These are meant to last for ages!! These albums are handcrafted and there are so many swatches to choose from for album covers!

Lastly, let me show you some engagement albums!! These are also from Finao, but for these, I personally mount the prints onto the pages. These are a great option for engagement album/wedding guestbooks at your reception, one side has the images and one side is blank for signing - Guests love to look through these and leave notes as well :)

A New Look, and a Big THANK YOU!

Okay guys, I have been so anxious to share this with you for a few days.. but finally the moment is here!

I HAVE A NEW WEBSITE!! YAYAYAYAYAYAY!!

The blog and other sites will be following suit, but I wanted to get my main website up and running first and foremost. I decided to switch website companies in order to bring my website to the next level and so far I am VERY happy with the results. Everything's gonna be turning white hehe! The black and the purple are still there but, I wanted to go for a lighter feel, ya know?

My new packaging is arriving today as well, and I've been taking pictures of my latest albums, so I can't wait to share that with you all too! In the meantime, I hope you like the new website, please message me if you have any troubles with it, so I can iron out the kinks!

Date Night? Photography Practice? Or both?!

So, Tuesdays are date nights for Fred and me, and lately our Tuesdays have been full.. but tonight we had some time to get dolled up and go out for our date night!

So what did we do? We took pictures of each other HAHAHAHAHA! It was nice to just go out and shoot for fun.. and try new things in our photography. So much to learn and try, and Fred and I are just always striving to improve our skills. Here's a few pics of us on our date night.

This first photo is my favorite of myself from the night - thank you Fred! I just like how I'm in a spot light.. the flash is directly in front of me (the direction my head is facing).. and it's up pretty high and aimed down at me... giving this spotlight effect.

This is one of my faves of Fred.. it's the same thing as above.. but now it's Fred HAHAHA!

I wanted to do a silhouette, so I exposed for the sky and didn't add flash..

Fred went for an unconventional crop, I like!

The street lamp was lighting the tree and I liked the gradient it made.. and I added flash on Fred.

This was a fluke.. the flash was right beside Fred and wasn't even set correctly (way too much power), but I decided to see if it would work.. and I guess b/c the flash was not facing Fred directly.. the spill is the part that hit him and wasn't overpowering.. so it ended up being just enough for him. See how it falls off sharply though at his waist? Yeah.. cuz the flash was not pointed at him, but somehow it worked out!

And there you have it, our date night! Yay!

Second Shooting in Maryland: Amy + Stephen

This past weekend I once again got to second shoot for Danny Bostwick, and once again it was a lot of fun! Thanks Danny for the opportunity and for the added knowledge I have gained from this experience :)

The wedding was in Hurlock, MD, at a place called Suicide Bridge Restaurant. Look it up for the full details, as this is a wedding post and I shouldn't go into much detail about suicides lol.

This particular wedding was all about the details, which were so meticulous and beautiful it was amazing how much time and effort had to have been put into everything. Congrats to Amy + Stephen, wishing you many years of happiness together!
